چکیده
This symposium was held in Trento, Italy, from June 14 to 16, 2007, and was cochaired by William G. Kaelin, Enrico Mihich, and Charles L. Sawyers. A session was deveted to the proof of concept derived from successes in target-oriented therapeutics. Molecular targets must be identified in each patients because they are equally present in all patients with the same tumor type. A session was devoted to the identification of markers of drug effectiveness. Two sessions were focused on opportunities for developing new specific molecular target-oriented therapies. The Tenth Annual Pezcoller Symposium was held in Trento, Italy from June 29 to July 1, 1998 and focused on issues concerning the genetic predisposition to cancer and genetic modifiers of this predisposition. The main topics discussed were: (a) genes and genetic pathways involved in the development and control of cancer and their alterations; (b) animal models useful in studies of the genetics o...
متن کاملEighth Annual Pezcoller Symposium: genomic instability and immortality in cancer.
The Eighth Annual Pezcoller Symposium focused on the mecha nism of genetic instability, a characteristic of neoplastic cells that also determines tumor progression. Immortality as a consequence of the lack of susceptibility to mechanisms of maturation, senescence, and/or apoptosis was also discussed because it is another pivotal character istic of the neoplastic cell. Mutational lability, chang...
متن کاملChallenging Roadblocks to Cancer Cure.
The Pezcoller Symposium in Trento, Italy, June 2015, focused entirely on the question of why advanced cancer cure is so uncommon despite the extraordinarily rapid growth of invaluable therapeutic information. Participants were asked to define and to critically evaluate real and potential obstacles to permanent disease eradication. High-level concepts on potential road blocks to cures as well as...
